Sonali Jarande, a very simple and straightforward girl entered the interview room with a soft voice. She patiently stood until asked to sit. Her simple nature was noticeable. She began sharing her story. She has a profound respect for her parents. Her father has two and a half acres of farmland and her mother works as a farm labourer. The milk-produce from their three cows goes to the dairy. They have a two-room house, a tractor, a cowshed, and farmland in their village.

We asked her some academic questions and realised that Sonali, although of average intelligence, she is a very hardworking girl. Further discussion revealed that her uncle and aunt are her guides for her career. The family of seven lives together. Her maternal uncle (Mama) provides a great support to the family.  Sonali is very determined. When asked why she chose nursing, she said she loves helping people, which shows her dedication. She has painstakingly saved ten thousand rupees for her second-year fees. Given her background and determination, I truly believe Sonali deserves this Fellowship.
